I
am speechless following tonight’s race. Tonight I made my
final start in the X-Car division, and I was nervous going in because
I had a chance to win the championship after I scratched it off
my list of things to do following a wreck three weeks ago that gave
me a career worst finish. But as far as the race goes, on the first
lap I had a chance to pass a lot of cars going into turn one, but
I said to myself “bad idea just stay in line” so I did…
well that turned out to be a bad idea because in turn three the
#22 went around and as I moved up the track to avoid it another
car, I dunno who, hit my left rear and sent me around. Now I had
a chance to save it but it would have caused another car to be crashed,
that other car was the #78 of Pat Williams, a racer I was racing
for the championship with, I would not let that happen so I turned
the car back up the track and locked the brakes because I did not
want to wreck Pat. I came to a complete stop and a bunch of cars
went around me, well all but one car, the #52 hit me pretty hard,
ironically the #52 is my old racecar. I put the car in gear and
well whatever gear I could find because the front got hit pretty
good, the toe was knocked out, the wheel got bent, the tie rod bent,
the front end was hanging off the car. I went in the pits and got
some great duck tape work done by my crew. I was soo annoyed I drove
the… well you know what out of the car from then on out. I
was much more aggressive this race then I had ever been in any race
I had been in.
On
one restart the #8 wasn’t up to speed so I drove to the inside
of him, I was below the white line, he held his line on the bottom,
and unfortunately the #78 of Pat Williams got turned around in front
of both of us, I’m not sure exactly what happened but I really
feel awful for what happened to Pat, he is an awesome guy and an
even better racer and that’s just a bad way to end a season.
Then at one point I got three wide in the middle and of course my
season was riding on it so I didn’t lift, I got sandwiched
in-between the #43 and the #07 and somehow came out on top even
though it was a lot like a scene out of Days Of Thunder.
So
the end of the race was near, my car was driving so bad I can’t
even describe it, the toe and bent rim made it so bad but I figured
its my last race and I want the win, it took a few laps sitting
behind Brad to find his weakness but I found it coming out of turn
2 down the backstretch, and just like last week made a last turn
pass for the win, and pulled it off. I honestly have no idea how
I did that, or even came close to doing that, but it was by far
the best win of my X-Car career.
I
won in my final X-Car start and I’m super pumped about that
being able to go out on top. It sucks I didn’t win the championship
but at least I can say I went out with a fight and I gave it my
all in my last race. There are however a lot of people I must thank
over the past three years who have gotten me to where I am.
Most
importantly my dad who has basically done all the work on the car,
if it wasn’t for him there is no way I would even be at the
track.
My mom and brother for their support over the past three years.

Mike Yost
Bobby Varney
Danny ‘Meatball’ Gervais

And of course all the drivers I have raced against who respect me
and raced me clean these past three year, having all your respect
is more important then any race win or championship trophy.
Also I must thank all my fans who come out and support me each week.
It’s been fun, and good luck to all the X-Car drivers next
year.
I will
try to have pictures up soon!!!
