After
making my final X-Car start this past Wednesday I got my Mini Stock
ready for racing on Saturday. I had one Thursday practice in the
car about a month ago, and felt good about tonight. However I was
told information about some Saturday night things and come to find
out when I got there they were not true, but actually backwards
of what someone had told me. Because of this and not having a full
understanding of Saturday night racing it was very very stressful.
The only real laps I got in the car were during the heat race and
feature race, both practices were a wash because the tire on the
left front had a bubble in it, as well as I was leaking fuel out
of the top of the cap.
Near
the end of the caution free feature I felt I was running more competitively
with the pack. I had to change the line I usually drive in the Saturn
but I feel I got a much better line now and next week hope to improve
on that. I know the car is fast, now its just a matter of me being
able to drive it that fast. And I only finished one lap down and
didn't spin, wreck, or take anyone else out.
I
want to thank the #2 Mini Stock crew, Ed from the #15 Sportsman,
and everyone else who helped me out last night considering my crew
and crew chief was not able to make it.
