NOT
RACING TONIGHT
The
disadvantage of not having a parts car has come into play for the
#30 again this year. We have broke a part of the steering shaft
that we thought we could fix but have found out that we can't, we
need to replace it, and the part won't be in until early next week.
Most teams have parts cars, we however do not have a mustang parts
car so we must get new parts when they are needed. We will return
to competition at the Speedbowl on August 9th and plan to run every
race remaining on the schedule there. Lets hope that luck turns
around for us real soon.
FIRST
WIN!!
Car
#2 driven by Jeff Mehlenbacher and owned by John Curry won their
first race together as owner and driver tonight. It marks Jeff's
first win in the Mini Stock's (just one year shy (7/25/07) since
his last trip to victory lane in the X-Cars) and John's first win
since returning to the division after an absence of almost 5 years.
Jeff
had a fast car all night starting from the inside of row 2. Once
traffic broke it was Jeff and Soup (#93) going door to door for
many laps with a few cautions thrown into the mix. It was a good
hard battle but Jeff had the preferred line on the high side, and
with his car being loose was the right place. He kept Soup on his
side knowing that if he did that no-one would pass either of them,
however he finally broke away from Soup. With a few laps left he
was quite a few car lengths ahead of the pack as Cassidy (#11) was
running him down. However time was on his side as he crossed the
finish line before Cassidy could even put up a fight. The finish
puts Jeff up one position in the points standings to 14th.
Jeff
thanked and credited Glenn Estes, John, Doug, and Lori Curry for
the chance to drive the car and get it to victory lane. Jeff will
return next Saturday to defend his win.
