Mohegan
Sun Double Down Shootout Part II
Two
weeks later we finally finished the Mohegan Sun Double Down Shootout.
Once again we were under power, and we have been changing just about
everything we can on it, this week we tried a different carb, one
that is a proven race winner multiple times over. It didn't help
the car at all at speed. The spark plugs have been looking different
then they did at the beginning of the season when the motor was
strong (before our wreck in May). There is a very good chance that
we have a vacuum leak somewhere just not sure where, at least we
have eliminated the carb as the main source of our power problem.
We
were suppose to start on the pole, however in Speedbowl fashion
they gave entries that withdrew or went to the back the chance to
go back to the front, so because of that we started 4th. However
we quickly made our way to second and were sitting in good position
after a few yellow flags. I spun the #82 off of turn four about
two laps in, I'm not sure what happened but it was as if he hit
the brakes or let off the gas and I just ran him over pretty hard.
They gave him his position back.
Then
the following restart we were all racing hard as faster cars were
trying to make their way around, and of course the 12 was pushing
me pretty hard, and again the 82 was holding me up but coming off
of turn four he once again got a little loose and let off the gas
or hit the brakes because I ran him over again, and with the 12
pushing me didn't take long for me to quickly spin to the infield,
I caught second gear, pointed it straight and kept on going. We
would come back to finish 13th, with an overall finish in the Mohegan
Sun Double Down Shootout of 14th.
The
#30 will no be at the track this Saturday 9/20, with a return for
the remainder of the season unlikely.
